3 fun things to do in Rome

When you think of Rome, what comes to mind?

Is it delicious pasta, gorgeous cobblestone streets and mouth-watering tiramisu?

Well, here are three ways to ensure you get those items ticked off your list on your next trip to Rome!

1. Attend a pasta-making class!

Ok, so I’m not one to usually book cooking classes, wine tours or food safaris, but when in Rome, right?

I signed up for a 3-hour cooking class and learnt from a local Italian chef how to make two types of pasta with two sauces.

I wasn’t expecting to love this experience as much as I did. It was relaxed, fun, and you don’t need any cooking experience to be a part of it!

When you gather a group of people (we had 6) from different backgrounds and cultures and put them in a room to cook, it’s such a fun experience. You get to learn about others, their life, their jobs, where they live, their culture and where they have traveled. It feels like friends gathered in a room!

We laughed, we learnt, we cooked, we ate, we drank wine, and we created memories. To end our wonderful experience, we got to eat the two large bowls of pasta we had made with a glass of wine.

After I finished the class, I got gelato and wandered through the streets of Rome as I walked back to my hotel. Overall, I’d say it was a day well spent!

2. Explore Monti

While yes, the obvious things like visiting the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain are all great things to do in Rome, there’s something so sweet and memorable about walking through the charming cobblestone streets of Monti.

Monti has some incredible places to eat, not to mention gorgeous photo locations—think beautiful wooden doors, green plants that effortlessly sweep across windows and doors, charming pastel-coloured buildings that carry pieces of history, pink flowers in cute terracotta pots, small cars bunched in closely to the next, lots of local smiles and delicious smells of pasta.

Monti is a home away from home and a wonderful taste of Italy!

3. Eat tiramisu

I think this is a given, right?

Surprisingly though, on my first trip to Italy, I didn’t even try tiramisu, so on my second visit to Italy, I knew it was a must.

Firstly, if you’re unsure about eating this for dessert because the coffee might keep you up, let me confirm: eat it in the morning! I ate tiramisu pretty much for breakfast (after a slice of pizza, of course—because, again, when in Rome).

Two Sizes, just a few minutes walk from Piazza Navona, was a great first-time tiramisu experience and perhaps one of the best. I highly recommend a trip here on your next visit to Rome!

Make pasta, explore beautiful sights and eat tiramisu—perhaps the best things to do in Rome!
