Ever seen those bright houses and buildings that burst with happiness and fun vibes? You’ve probably been looking at photos of Burano.
Burano is located in the Venetian Lagoon—less than an hour away and north of Venice. This little island is the perfect day trip and well worth your time (and perhaps the majority of your camera storage, I bet).
Think canals, cute boats, picturesque bridges, charming windows, romantic hanging flowers, bicycles, bright pink, light pink, baby blue, Tiffany blue, pure white, bright yellow, deep red—and the colours go on!
The inviting architecture is enough to put a smile on any face—I think I spent most of my time here with a huge grin as each new building got me all excited by its colour. It’s the simple things in life.
It’s a beautiful backdrop for a lunchtime meal or some afternoon gelato. It’s hard to imagine how this setting couldn’t bring a smile to your day if you were a local living here. There’s something about colour and architecture that warms the soul.
The youthful vibrancy of the buildings makes you want to be a kid again. There may have been a few skips in my step and jumping photos here and there as I walked among rustic homemade curtains draped over doorframes and t-shirts that hung casually from simple clotheslines. It all added such charm to this homely vibe.
Burano is the place where you get your camera out, and you pretty much don’t stop. Just as you think you’ve found the most beautiful house with the brightest of colours, right around the next corner is something just as wonderful.
It’s a place of excitement and wonder, and somewhere you can let gelato run down the sides of your mouth as you make a mess, but, nonetheless, love every minute of it because sometimes it’s good to be a kid again.
